I don’t often give updates on the Loki novellas I’m working on other than to say that I’m writing.
The 6th novella, which takes place after the first 5 and makes up a complete arc, took some time to get back to since I finished writing it in my dad’s hospital room shortly before he passed away. I was glad to have other stories to turn to. Friends asked me if Loki was bugging me because he’s always got this “Me, me, me, me, me!” going on in the back of my mind, but even he has been quite since last year.
Until I started finishing up Prince of the Ruined Land.
As I neared the end, even though I still had things to do, I heard Loki whispering in my mind, “6:00 tomorrow morning, you are mine. Now finish this up and let’s get back to me!”
Sorry, I don’t deal with demands very well. Even from the god of mischief.
It was closer to 6:30 a.m. before I got around to him. I had things to finish up!
As I write this, I have 10 pages left to review. As always, this novella was one that wrote itself and only needed minor adjustments. It’s terribly funny. It’s probably the most humorous one of them all. That’s how I can easily say that I don’t write these; I am merely recording what I’m told. I am just not that funny or clever in real life. And I always figure that if I laugh when I’m writing it and I laugh when I re-read it, the reader will laugh too. I trust the process.
There are still some things I need to work through on the book. The title and the cover being two of the more important items on that agenda. (grin) My youngest son and I have been debating about how to title the next books. Author probably trumps on this one, but I do have to give it serious thought because he is very good at critiquing things; I often wonder why he’s not becoming an editor/publisher – it’s like the perfect job for him. I’m anxious to see what develops in his life over the next 20 years.
Anyway, it’s getting close. I’m sure you’ll be getting more updates on this soon. Actually, I’m sure you’ll get tired of reading about me blogging about it all the time, like Prince of the Ruined Land. I just get so excited.
I hope you get as excited for the next installment like I do.
