I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it in any of my prior blogs (mostly because I was not wanting to complain about something so slight), I’ve been fighting a sinus infection for about two months now. I can generally keep it at bay, which is what I’ve been doing. A couple of times I’ve woken up with a terrible headache.
Yesterday was one of those days. I felt poorly all day, plus I was hungry as if my body was trying to store up energy before a bout of illness. I did my sinus rinse (yes, I’m one of those people — I swear that once you get used to it, you won’t be able to stand having a stuffy nose at all. Plus, aside from this sinus infection trying to rise up, I’m rarely sick), got warmed up, and headed to bed.
But today, I woke with an even worse headache. I can’t even imagine what it would have been like if I hadn’t done the sinus wash. So I got up and did something I rarely do — I took over-the-counter medicine for it.
Normally, I don’t like taking any medicine that isn’t natural. I’d rather have my herbs and essential oils (perhaps with a bit of reflexology) take care of my health. But sometimes, like the occasional migraines and these sinus headaches, I just can’t kick with naturopathy alone.
About half an hour after I took the sinus medicine, I started to feel much better. I got my words in and then I went and recorded the punch-ins for the audiobook I’m working on. Then I also got the introduction and ending finished up — I don’t know why I don’t record these first thing; I always get irritated with myself for not having these done already. Then I verified all the tracks to make sure they met requirements and converted them to MP3’s. Woo hoo, the audiobook is done!
It really does feel like a miracle that I got all that done today considering how I felt when I woke up this morning.
Now, my son is heading home from work with a late dinner for us and we’re going to stay up and watch a movie. I feel like I’ve earned the celebratory break, even though we’d planned this earlier this week. So, I must go and finish up some of the household chores before he gets home so that I can really be done for the night and relax.
Until next time, cheers!
