A dragonfly appears

Painted tonight and still hoping to get some writing in. I can’t say that I have a schedule or anything, but I’m trying to find a rhythm.

It doesn’t help that I didn’t get to bed until nearly midnight and couldn’t get to sleep for a long time. So when the cats started trying to wake me up this morning, I didn’t want to get up and I let my brain to enduring strange dreams.

Better luck tomorrow. (grin)

But I did make the decision to paint. I’ve had this ACEO that I’ve had the background done for a while, but I didn’t know what to paint as the focal object. I’ve tried several things, but nothing ever quite worked. Until tonight when I had the idea that a dragonfly needed to be there. Here it is:

Now if I could just figure out the other ACEO that I painted the background about the same time as this. I have faith that it will finish exactly as it is supposed to be and right on time.

The sketch above this post is of the maple tree outside my house. It has Virginia Creeper growing up around it and squirrels that run up and down this tree all day. I figure it’s about 100 years old, if not older. The bark is peeling away. The squirrels have expanded the hole on the birdhouse so they can get in and out. And there’s half of this old wooden butterfly that broke in a windstorm shortly after I moved in. It’s too high for me to get down, and I’m afraid it would let bugs access the inside of the tree if I did pull it out, so it stays.

Now, onto writing.

Cheers.
