Crystals found

I’m trying to get braver with my painting. It’s hard.

Recently, I thought about painting crystals in some of my works. The issue? I’ve never painted crystals. So I had to go learn how to do that, which ended up to be the easy part.

Eventually, I would have to sit down and give it a try. That’s the hard, scary part.

I had a background for an ACEO which already had nice brush marks started which showed something that looked like crystals, so I thought I’d give it a try.

So, here it is: my first attempt at painting crystals is below.

I wanted to do something a little different from the purple/blue amethyst-like crystals that most people paint. While beautiful, I wanted to be different, so I went for a more citrine color.

Personally, I’m pleased with this first attempt. It gave me good practice. I’ll definitely do a few more paintings before I try something bigger, but I’m looking forward to incorporate this into larger work.

Now, if I could just start painting some of the other things I’d like to paint. I have a list. I will get to it.

Cheers.
