Welcome to October.
Okay, yes, I know we are a week in. It’s scary how fast this year has gone.
Speaking of scary, a popular prompt with writers is to write about something you fear. I am worried for the day when we all start implanting microchips in ourselves and our kids. Yes, I see the advantages of it, but it still frightens me. I don’t think anything good can come from it in the long term.
Writing what scares me was the prompt behind my short story, Broken Smiles, a techno-thriller about implanted chips and what happens when they break. I have long said that if a code can be written, code can be written against it. What happens when all that goes wrong?
So, sink into a short story to start your October off.
