I started off so well this morning with Arlyn’s story. In about an hour and a half, I wrote over 1,200 words. Then I crashed.
I should have quit then, let the cats’ sleep energy take me over, but I kept trying to write. In the next three hours, I wrote about 500 words. Okay, I also did a lot of reading during this time too, but it doesn’t feel like an excuse.
I read some of Prince of the Ruined Land because I knew there were “facts” in there I needed for Arlyn’s story. I also had to reference Tangled Magic for information. And, I got sucked into Mercedes Lackey’s Foundation. I’m totally reading this series in a strange order, but it’s what I had access to when I wanted another of her books. I have to say that it is very reminiscent of Joust.
I knew that I should go get in the booth to get some recording done, but I just didn’t have the energy. So, I finally gave in and went to take a nap. It’s a really good thing that I recently listened to a seminar about stamina for writing more. It made me understand why I can only write about 1,200-1,500 words before I just crash. I used to be able to easily do 3,000 before feeling like this. But today, when I looked at how much writing I’ve done this year so far, I realized that what I’ve done so far used to be what I’d get done in a whole year. That’s sad, but it shows that I’m rebuilding my stamina. Someday, I will be able to do 3,000 words in a day again. I have written 13,000 words in a day, but that’s a rarity. I wouldn’t want to do that every day.
After my nap and dinner, I did get about 800 more words in. That was enough to send me squeaking over the 10,000 word mark of this story so far.
And, I’m pretty much done writing right now.
Tomorrow is another day.
Cheers.
