When a story can go any direction

I feel like I’m at a strange point in Arlyn‘s story. I’m just beyond that one-third point and I’m trying write through it.

I feel like I’m missing something. I want something awesome, something to add an additional level to the story where readers who has gone through the Sacred Knight series will just be thoroughly excited.

And therein lies the problem. I’m already thinking to the reader having the book in their hands. Which means I’m outside of the story and not enjoying the rollercoaster ride while I’m on it.

I need to step back, crawl into the story once more, and think about what would be fun. Because right now, I’m the only one who knows what’s going on in the story. No one else ever has to see it. I could do something very weird and wacky and off-the-wall. If it doesn’t work, who cares? I might find my way through and discover some awesome storytelling aspect which sends the story off in an incredible way.

And today, I have a few more words to get in. I think I’m ready to get back to it now.

Cheers.
